Davai teaches Russian through illustrated stories and practice. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the iPhone or iPad app. You do not need an account, and we never ask for your name or email address in the app.
Your learning progress
Your lessons, reviews, settings and other learning progress are stored on your device. If iCloud is enabled for Davai, Apple can sync this progress between your devices through your Apple Account; we cannot read it. You can turn off iCloud syncing for Davai in your device's iCloud settings. Apple handles iCloud data under its own privacy policy.
Start over in Davai's settings resets your learning progress. It does not reset purchases. If iCloud syncing is on, the reset can reach your other devices too. Deleting the app is not a reliable way to erase progress that has already synced.
Speaking and writing practice
Speaking practice uses the microphone only when you tap record. The recording is kept in temporary storage on your device so you can play it back, and it is deleted when you move on. If you allow speech recognition, Davai asks Apple's recognizer to compare your words with the practice line on your device only; it never falls back to server recognition. Handwriting practice stays on your device. What you type in exercises is never sent anywhere.
Usage analytics
Davai uses Mixpanel to understand how the course is used, so that lessons can be improved. Mixpanel receives which onboarding steps, lessons, card decks, level tests and purchase screens are reached, your in-app preferences (such as text size, theme, app language and reminder settings), and device information (model, system version, app version, screen size). These are tied to a random ID created for your installation — not your name, email, Apple Account or the advertising identifier. Mixpanel may derive an approximate country and city from your IP address.
You can turn usage analytics off at any time in Davai's settings under Privacy. See Mixpanel's privacy policy.
Crash diagnostics
Davai uses Sentry to receive technical reports when the app crashes, hangs or is stopped by the system, and anonymous session health, so that problems can be found and fixed. These reports contain technical details such as the device model, system version and where in the code the problem happened. Screenshots, view hierarchies, session replay and personal information are turned off. See Sentry's privacy policy.
Purchases and subscriptions
The alphabet, the first chapters and several vocabulary packs are free. Apple's App Store processes purchases and subscriptions; we never receive your payment card details. Davai uses RevenueCat to check and restore your access. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID, your purchase history and subscription status, and technical information needed to provide and troubleshoot purchases. Turning off usage analytics does not turn off purchase checks. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
Notifications
Reminders and Word of the Day are scheduled on your device. Their content is not sent to us. You can change them in Davai's settings or turn them off in your device's notification settings.
If you send feedback from the app or email us, we receive your message and email address and use them only to reply and to improve Davai. The feedback draft includes the app version and language; nothing is sent until you tap Send.
What we do not do
Davai has no advertising, does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA), does not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and does not sell your data.
Keeping and deleting data
The services above keep data only as long as needed for the purposes described and then delete it under their retention settings. Because the analytics and diagnostic data is not linked to your identity, we may be unable to find data belonging to you specifically; turning analytics off stops new data from being sent. For any privacy request, email us and we will do what we can.
Children
Davai is a general-audience learning app. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has shared personal information with us, contact us so we can delete it.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy when the app or its services change; the date above shows the latest revision. Questions or privacy requests: hi@alperenalan.com.
